Organic produce is grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. Organic meat and diary livestock receive no antibiotics or added hormones and are raised on organic feed. Organic products never use genetic engineering or irradiation.
Organic farming promotes healthy soil, biodiversity, and the conservation of water and ecological systems. It helps keep chemicals out of our air, earth and water. And organic farmers focus on using renewable resources.
Products that contain all organically produced ingredients.
USDA Certified Organic
Products that contain a minimum of 95% or more organic ingredients. The small amounts of conventional ingredients are approved through application to the USDA National Organic Program. Percent of conventional ingredients are allowed only if comparable ingredients are not available organically.
Made With Organic Ingredients
The phrase "made with organic ingredients" is given to products that have only 70-94 % organic ingredients. By reading labels, a consumer can determine which ingredients are organic.
